Fire Contact Ball

Fire contact balls, also known as fire contact juggling balls, are a mesmerising combination of skill, art, and spectacle. These impressive props have fascinated performers and audiences for decades and stand out in the world of fire manipulation due to their unique blend of elegance and danger

The fire contact ball was developed over a period of five years by a group of passionate enthusiasts. During this development process, several of the world’s best contact jugglers were involved. The main tester was contact juggler Rendolf, whose expertise played an important role in refining the design

The weight of the fire contact ball falls between regular practice stage balls and acrylic contact balls. For this reason, some jugglers also use these balls to practice and refine new tricks

The ball can be used without gloves. It is recommended to use fuels with a low burn temperature or low flame intensity. Before lighting, it is advisable to wet or lightly spray a large portion of the ball with water and then apply only a few drops of fuel, for example, in a single line around the centre of the ball. Although this may seem like too little fuel, it is more than sufficient to create the effect of the entire ball being on fire

Never fully soak the ball in fuel. Too much fuel will cause the ball to become extremely hot, produce an excessively large flame, and extend the burn time. This can seriously damage the ball

Suitable fuels with a low flame temperature include: ethanol, special fire performer fuels, Aquaflame, isopropyl, 2-propanol (isopropyl alcohol) 80%, and mixtures of these fuels with water

Technical specifications
Burn time: up to 3 minutes
Material: 100% Kevlar

Sizes and weight

  • 80 mm – 190 g
  • 90 mm – 240 g
  • 100 mm – 320 g
  • 110 mm – 400 g
  • 120 mm – 530 g

We strongly recommend choosing a larger diameter than you are used to. A larger diameter means the flame is further away from the skin, which increases safety. Additionally, a larger ball is easier to balance on the body and produces a bigger, more impressive flame with greater impact on the audience

If you are used to a 100 mm ball, do not hesitate to use a 110 mm fire contact ball. This advice is supported by professional contact jugglers with extensive experience in fire contact juggling

Important safety notice:
For your first uses, only use 70%–80% alcohol and avoid lamp oil or other fuels. These can become extremely hot and cause serious burns. Wearing a long-sleeved cotton shirt is strongly recommended, unless you are willing to say goodbye to your arm hair. Safety should always come first
