Yoyofriends Carp Yo-Yo

The Yoyofriends Carp is a modern, fully plastic yo-yo with a beautifully organic design and surprisingly powerful performance. Developed as the plastic successor to the popular Yoyofriends Koi, the Carp combines the playful, smooth feel of an organic yo-yo with the stability and spin time expected from a modern performance yo-yo.

The body is made from polycarbonate (PC) and features a 6061 aluminium core and spacers. With a weight of 66.66 grams, the Carp feels light and comfortable while still providing plenty of stability and power for longer combinations and demanding tricks.

Its rounded profile makes the yo-yo comfortable to hold and catch. The relatively compact diameter of 55.85 mm also makes the Carp easy to take with you, while its 50.38 mm width provides a modern playing feel and plenty of room for string tricks.

Playful & Versatile

The Carp was designed with flow and enjoyment as its main priorities. Its weight distribution allows the yo-yo to accelerate easily when pushed harder, while still feeling relaxed and smooth during slower combinations.

The result is a yo-yo that works well for players looking for a high-quality plastic yo-yo, while also offering experienced players a playful and unique addition to their collection.

The Story Behind the Carp

In 2020, Yoyofriends introduced the Koi, their first yo-yo with a distinctly organic shape. The Koi became popular for its smooth playing style, comfortable profile, and versatile performance.

After several versions of the Koi, the idea emerged to bring the same design philosophy to a more affordable plastic yo-yo.

Yoyofriends chose polycarbonate (PC) for its durability and its ability to support striking color combinations. The diameter was kept close to 56 mm to make the yo-yo compact and portable, while the approximately 50 mm width provides a modern playing experience.

During development, several prototypes were tested. A 6061 aluminium spacer was added to further stabilize the construction, while the rim shape was carefully refined. Yoyofriends ultimately chose the strongly rounded rim characteristic of the Koi. This not only creates a comfortable catch, but also contributes to the playful and flowing weight distribution.

After numerous prototypes and tests, the final version was brought down to approximately 66.6 grams. This preserved the added stability without sacrificing the playful character.

The name Carp is a direct reference to the Koi. Both yo-yos share the same design philosophy: an organic shape, a relaxed playing feel, and enough performance to handle modern tricks.

Carp is Koi in a new form: plastic, more organic, and made first and foremost to be fun to play.
